Agnipankh – Awesome Bird Sanctuary and Authentic Regional Food

Bhigwan is a small town on the border of the Ahmednagar, Pune and Solapur districts in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Situated in a small village on the banks of Ujjani backwaters, famed for bird watching, and wildlife photography, Agnipankh is a wonderful spot to witness flamingos, grey herons, sea gulls, storks and couple of other birds. While all four Nagare brothers Sandeep, Nitin, Sagar and Somnath are civil and courteous and would go out of the way to offer best possible service, Sandeep Nagare, the oldest of all carries immense knowledge about birds and their habitat. Please spare minimum of full one day to include safaris. One boat one family – personalized service is offered.

And now about the food! While men of the Nagare family take care of tours, women of the family prepare delicious and delectable Maharastrian authentic food. Perceptibly you get tired, you freshened up, and then relax and relish Vegetarian Thali. Bhigwan is legendary for fish, so if you take non-veg, you have to try Machchi Thali (Fish Thali). Meal is pretty inexpensive and you may ask for extra if you wish.

Freshly baked warm Bhakri, seasonal non-fatty Sabzi, slow cooked Dal, special Indrayani boiled Rice and crispy Green Salad with Papadam and yes! Crunchy and tangy fried golden brown whole fish.
